Lithium Hotlinks
- the following companies/organisations are - or claimto be - leading the worldwide electriccharge to produce the next generation ofultra-advanced long-range (200 miles) andlow-cost(...so they say) Lithium Ion/Polymer/Superpolymer batteries for EV's.

Sandia National Laboratories - see press release (Mar 6, 2003): "More powerful, longer-lasting lithium batteries on the horizon with Sandia-developed materials breakthrough." (quote: "The marriage of silicon and graphite may improve the specific capabilities of commercial graphite anode materials up to 400%" - Jim Wang, Manager of the Analytical Materials Science Department at Sandia.

Maya-100Electrovaya(Canada)- claim to be leading the pack. See April 2003 press release "Government of Canada partners with Electrovaya ($9.9-million strategic investment)."

Taiwan Industrial Technology Research Institute - "nano batteries that last up to 1 month...lithium polymer nano batteries...should be available soon". Are they ahead of Sandia? See above & Nov 2003 Taiwan News press release.

UQM Technologies(USA) - contract to develop all-electric, lithium-powered half-ton pickup truck for US Air Force. Absolute cutting edge - see Aug 2003 detailed press release.

Worley(AUS) - a true li-on and li-poly pacesetter. Has developed highly affordable 'extreme energy battery pack systems' for many solar challenge vehicles including the record-breaking Swiss Intellibike(see below). Track record and website speaks for itself. See their impressive photo-animated Solar Car and EV Packs" pages.

Altair Nanotechnologies(USA) - recharge 10-100 timesfaster with titanium 'nano anodes'. See also: New Scientist article(March 7, 2005) "Charge a battery in just six minutes".

FMC Lithium (USA) - now joined with Altair (above) -see pressrelease.

Ntera (Dublin) - superfast (3mins !!) recharge and discharge. Their nanotech-lithium batteries will, they say "have a major impact on poweringelectric vehicles" - see press release. Now also joint-venturing withAltair.

Avestor(Canada) - also claim to have the best lithium(metal polymer)batteries for EV's.

Kerr-McGee(USA)/ Hydro-Quebec -recently joined forces with Avestor(above)...aiming toco-produce ultra-advanced lithium-powered car - SeeEVUK Report.

Fortu(Germany)- very impressive performance charts & graphs

T/JTechnologies (USA) - energy-density as much asdoubled using tin-based 'nano-anodes'. Check out theirbattery pages.

Sion Power(USA) - promises again of unprecedented performance/range plus "low environmental impact" and "lower material cost". L-ion with a slice of sulphur("s-ion"). See full tech details/diagrams.

Lithium Power Inc. (USA) - very upbeathigh-energy company and website. Their Lithium MetalPolymer batteries have "...twice the energy density ofstandard lithium ion".

Qinetiq (UK) - remarkable range of cutting-edgeenergy technologies (incl. separate nanotech website). Reduced weight lithium-powered ebikeprototype.

Ultralife Batteries International(UK,USA,Taiwan) - no EV/ebike Lithium in UK as yet - BUT here is company's response to a recent(Nov 2002) EVUK inquiry: "...however, through our relationship with Ultralife Taiwan Inc. who have developed their Large Scale Battery (LSB) lithium-ion technology for the Ebike market , we may soon consider supporting niche portions of this market".

Edan Technology Inc.(Shanghai and Taipei) - very pro-EV/ebike Lithium battery manufacturers. Very consumer-friendly and informative FAQ pages.

MOST Chinese Ministry of Science & Technology. Aiming to develop a new generation of Lithium-powered electric vehicles before 2008 Olympiad - see EVUK report.

Thunder Sky - Chinese company seeks global customers for its breakthrough long-range but low-cost(US$150 kw/h) EV lithium batteries. Thunder Sky's reputation is growing rapidly...HyperPower/Power Lithium Battery is the company's alternative English-only website.

University of Montreal - Dr.Michel Armand -world-renowned specialist - claims his batteries offer200 mile-per-charge range. See EVUK and Economistreport.

USABC (US Advanced Battery Consortium) - see esp. press release(Sept,2002): "Advancements Made in Lithium Ion Battery Systems". Stated goal is "to accelerate the market potential of electric vehicles".

Dirt Monkey Dirt Monkey(Li-ion-powered)/Technical Bikes(UK) - superb lithium-powered(Thundersky -see above) all-terrain off-road e-bike. Now watch X-treme video!

Intellibike Intellibike, 62 mph / 100km/h, University of Biel -Lithium Polymer powered SOA World-Record-Breakingelectric bicycle(ebike). Range, speed & endurance ofLi-Polymer Intellibike proven in World SolarChallenge, AUS. See: Intellibike picture-report in English in "e-Mobil" (SwissEV mag) plus Spirit of Bike / Univ. of Biel forfull technical details incl. Li-Polymer batterydetails. Click for Babelfish translator.

Eecobike - the world's first(?) lithium battery full ebike kit. Top specifications. No independent test-reviews as yet...
